Our Key Stage 3 Curriculum Offer

 

COMMUNICATION, INDEPENDENCE AND BEING A CONFIDENT MEMBER OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY  

  • Students will continue to develop their communication skills using their own personalised systems 

  • We aim to develop our students independence skills and provide them with opportunities to build their confidence and self esteem 

  • We work together to create partnerships in our local community and work together collaboratively

  • Swimming at Erith leisure centre 

  • Shopping at local supermarkets 

  • Exploring local historical sites Danson House, Lesnes Abbey and Hall Place

  • Keeping active in outdoor parks 

  • Learning outside in our beautiful woodlands and meadows 

 

READ WRITE INC FRESH START 

  • Staff have had up to date RWI Fresh Start training (secondary school appropriate)

  • Students will participate in RWI sessions at least three times a week where appropriate

  • Literacy is the foundation for everything we do  and we will continue to develop literacy skills across all lessons 

  • Using IT to underpin learning in all subjects where relevant

 

MATHS

  • Shop Cook and Eat 

  • Using money and cards in the community to purchase items

  • Learning about road safety 

  • Weighing ingredients and using utensils in the kitchen (microwave, scales and oven) with supervision 

  • Exploring Maths through a multi sensory approach for our Engagement Model students 

 

PSHE

  • Working collaboratively with our friends 

  • Developing friendships in school

  • Learning about relationships and changes in our bodies during RSE 

  • Keeping ourselves safe at school and out in the local community 

  • Celebrating differences and diversity 

  • Challenging ourselves to learn new skills  and achieving in all areas
