Buttercups Class

Class Name:  Buttercup

Class Teacher: Emily/Anjanie

Term:  2

Date Completed: April 2019

Topic this term: Transport

This term our topic has been about Transport.  We have been learning about the different modes of transport that we see in our immediate environment and have been recording how we travel to school each day.  We have been learning about different vehicles such as planes, fire engines, trains and linking them to the sounds they make!

As a class we have enjoyed exploring making vehicle marks through sensory play such as making track marks in paint, flour and watching boats float on water.  We have been counting and sorting different vehicles into sets and enjoyed using cause and effect toys to push along ramps, thinking about fast and slow movements.  We have listened to stories and songs such as ‘We all go travelling by’, moving to the beat and vocalising to the songs.  We have been playing with car garages and space rockets as a group, taking turns and sharing, building positive relationships.

Topic next term: My World

We have a range of exciting activities planned both indoor and outdoor.

WOW moments - we hope you enjoyed hearing about your child's WOW moments in their individual newsletter.

Please do not forget to send in any moments from home, we will add these into your child’s learning journey.  If you need more wow stars, just ask!

Happy Spring break from Buttercup Class.

Shenstone Stepping Stones

As a school we have created a new assessment system called Shenstone Stepping Stones and we use this bespoke system for Years 1 – 6. For pupils in Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. For both systems we use Learning Journeys that highlight and celebrate the progress that your child has made.
