Therapies and Support
At Shenstone School, we are proud to offer an integrated therapeutic approach that places each pupil's communication, wellbeing, and independence at the heart of their learning journey. Our commitment is grounded in the belief that every child deserves to be understood, supported, and empowered through meaningful experiences.
Through our Service Level Agreement with the NHS, we commission a skilled team of professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Special School Nursing Team. Our multidisciplinary team works closely with pupils, staff, and families to deliver personalised, high-quality support that is fully embedded within our school environment and wider community.
Our therapists work directly with identified learners, developing tailored plans that address individual needs and support progression across all areas of development. Just as importantly, they collaborate with our education teams to upskill staff—ensuring therapeutic strategies are integrated seamlessly into the everyday experiences of our pupils. Whether in the classroom, during enrichment activities, or on educational visits within the community, therapy and learning come together in a cohesive and nurturing way, enabling our pupils.
Our rich and varied learning environments offer pupils the opportunity to thrive through exploration, interaction, and purposeful movement. These include:
-
Hydrotherapy pool – supporting physical development, communication, and sensory regulation through activities such as Liquid Listening, swimming lessons, and focused attention programmes.
-
Sensory rooms – calm and engaging spaces that encourage self-regulation, emotional expression, and connection.
-
Outdoor learning spaces – including accessible adventure playgrounds that promote play, resilience, and physical wellbeing.
-
Specialist group and individual learning zones – designed to provide personalised support while encouraging social development and independence.
Personalised and adapted learning begins at our pupils' individual starting points. We recognise and honour their unique strengths, interests, and communication styles. By creating safe and playful spaces for interaction, we help pupils to express themselves, develop curiosity, build meaningful relationships, and grow in confidence.
Our integrated therapies are not an add-on—they are a vital part of how we teach, support, and nurture our children. At Shenstone School, we empower our pupils to develop the physical, emotional, and educational abilities they need for life, within a community that values every voice and celebrates every step of progress.
