Shenstone School Closure Letter dated 17.3.20
Dear Parents and Carers
I am writing to inform you that I have made the very difficult decision to formally close Shenstone School, both Crayford and Sidcup sites, from tomorrow Wednesday the 18th of March until at least Monday 23rd March. On Friday 20th March we will inform you whether school will reopen on Monday 23rd March or if we need to extend the closure. Please keep an eye on the school website for further information.
We still have no confirmed case of Coronavirus COVID-19. However, following the most recent government guidance we now have a number of staff self-isolating. As a result we do not have enough staff to safely manage the school for all pupils. As a consequence, reluctantly, we have no choice but to close the school as the health and safety needs of our children is paramount. We fully appreciate the disruption this may cause to families, but there are truly no other options in these very unusual and exceptional circumstances.
Staff have worked to put together useful learning websites and activity ideas which you can use to support your child’s learning at this time of closure. These are available on the school website, accessible under the class pages tab. Please don’t forget that you have been sent home your child’s OWL targets to work on in addition to the other learning resource ideas. Sam and Sarah, our speech and language therapists will still be available to offer remote support where possible if you would like advice around communication. Their addresses are as follows: email@example.com, and firstname.lastname@example.org
I will be available to support as well if you want to check in or need any advice. My e-mail is email@example.com.
Please rest assured that we have not taken this decision lightly. We hope that these measures will help to keep our school community safe and well. Stay safe!
