Children in Need & #OddSocksDay 2022

We asked both Pupils and Staff to join us for the Great Spoctacular and wear something spotty or yellow accompanied by odd socks on Friday 18th November. Both the children and staff had lots of fun enjoying many activities.

What is Odd Socks day?
Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to your school, at work of at home, it couldn’t be simpler! Odd Socks day helps to raise awareness of bullying.

We did not collect any cash donations for either event but raised awareness and encouraged those that wanted to support to do so online or by donating via the links during the show.

'I Am' Festival parade and Exhibition

We were very excited to participate in the multicultural ‘I am’ Arts Festival in June 2023 (Sidcup's on 14th June and Crayford on 15th June). Children participated in activities linked to different countries around the world and created artwork that was displayed in an exhibition at school.

We invited Parents/Carers to come along to watch the multicultural parade that the children took part in and then look at all the lovely art work produced by the children.

We were lucky enough to have a local artist come in and produce a 3D piece with the children too!

On the day, we also invited children to dress in their cultural dress, or an outfit or costume of their choice or school uniform. The children created a flag from the country they are from/ originate from to represent.

Safer Internet Day 2023

Safer Internet Day 2023 took place on the 7th of February 2023, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’.

With your help, Safer Internet Day 2023 can be a springboard for conversations that shape how we talk about and respond to online issues, not just for one day, but throughout the whole year.

About Safer Internet Day

Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. Starting as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project in 2004 and taken up by the Insafe network as one of its earliest actions in 2005, Safer Internet Day has grown beyond its traditional geographic zone and is now celebrated in approximately 170 countries worldwide.

From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns.

If you would like any symbols you feel will support your child online, then please let your class teacher know and we will get some sent out to you.

School Journey for year 6 pupils 2023

We were very excited to have offered a 1 night residential tripin May to Hindleap Warren Outdoor Centre in Surrey.

The children who attended got to experience an exciting programme of activities suited specifically to them. Hindleap Warren have extensive experience in working with pupils with learning difficulties and regularly have schools like ours attend residential trips. Not only did the children get to experience the fantastic activities but they also gained some independence by sleeping away from home for the night. The children were accompanied by a high pupil/adult ratio of Shenstone school staff as well as having the centre’s own staff dedicated to support our group.
